Randy Scott Hobson

On February 22, 2020 Randy Scott Hobson (60) of Portage, WI lost his battle with cancer and returned home to heaven.  Born April 11, 1959 in Rockford, IL. Randy is survived by Holly Fuessley, his significant other of Portage, WI.  He is also survived by his sister Gail (Hobson) Long of Maricopa, AZ and his three daughters; Erin Hobson of Rockford, IL, Samantha Hobson (Kurt Levin) of Dakota, IL and Kelsey Hobson of DeKalb, IL.  He is also survived by his two grandchildren; Joshua Hobson and Audrey Watkins. His Ex-Wives Lora 1979 and Tamera 1991, both of Rockford, IL. The family would like to thank all of Randy’s friends who have stood by him as he battled cancer.  You were a shining light in his life and brought him joy even during the darkest of the battle.

Randy was a man of simplicity, but not a simple man.  He will be remembered by many in the communities he has lived as caring and compassionate, always a person to turn to for comfort and direction.  Randy enjoyed working with people who were experiencing tough times in life as he had at sometimes gone through the same struggles.  He served at many homeless shelters in various communities and was known to be a voice of comfort and support to all who would walk through the door.  Randy was a true friend and would sacrifice to see friends become better.

Randy went to East High School in Rockford, IL graduated 1977. He received an Auto Technology Associate Applied Science Degree from Associate Rock Valley College, Rockford, IL 1979. He worked for Columbia Pipe and Supply in Rockford, IL for 16-1/2 years ending as their Supply Manager. As Manager of the Men’s Shelter here in Portage, WI he also worked at Walmart Tire Center for 2-1/2 years. He spent his greatest year and half at Portage Lumber Do It Best Center, Portage, WI. Randy was also on the River Haven Board of Directors. He attended City of Portage, Citizens Police Academy, class #9 in 2018.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. & Wilma D. (Belangee) Hobson and his brother Michael Edward.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Randy Hobson at River of Life Church, 102 W Franklin St., Portage, WI on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 1pm. Those that are not able to attend please direct any gifts or cards to P.O Box 504, Portage, WI.
